Now, I better come clean and be upfront before you read this article: I DON’T THINK THERE IS SUCH THING AS A SUPERFOOD! There, I said it. I do think that some food is better for you than others. Obviously. But my view on “superfoods” is that they are highly nutritious and contain important vitamins and minerals, as do many non-superfoods. It just seems to me that the marketing men and women are just trying to drum up business for the little known fruits and vegetables and then slap on a premium price. Superfood = Super expensive!
“Food, if it’s chosen well, can reshape our medical destinies for the better,” says David Katz, MD, director of the Yale Prevention Research Centre.
He is correct, although the word superfood isn’t uttered by him at all.
