Penis Size: The Schlong And Short Of It.

Apparently men and women have completely opposite views on a man’s penis size. A man is obsessed with the length and girth of his schlong. A straight woman is just happy when a man knows how to use it.  And lesbians…well, they just don’t care!

Joking aside, there is a lot of research out there that has examined our likes and wants when it comes to penis size. But is there any way that can you tell what you are getting before you make the important decision to take him home for a “coffee”?   Should the shoe size, his height or the colour of his skin influence your decision?

There are many stereotypes and “facts” that people draw upon to help make their choice  but, short of copping a feel, how do you separate the facts from the fiction?

If The Shoe Fits…

Dr Siminoski (University of  Alberta) and Dr Bain (University of Toronto) sought to find out whether there is a correlation between height and foot size and the penile length. They found that there is! But don’t  don’t get too excited. The sample group was only 63 men and the correlation between the factors was deemed “too weak” to be an absolute truth.

A 2015 study carried out by  Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London suggests that there is no evidence of a correlation between a man’s shoe size and his penis size,  The British researchers pulled their data from 15,000-from across the globe.

Their research found  the average erect penis length is just over 5 inches (12.7cm), while around 3 inches (7.6cm) when flaccid and the average girth was recorded to be 4.6 inches(11.7cm) and 3.7 inches (9.4cm) for erect and flaccid respectively.

The study also found no evidence that “race” influences penis size but the men who were taking part in this study only had European or Middle Eastern origins.

How big is yours?

Race matters…

Controversially Prof. Richard Lynn over at Ulster University carried out a survey in 2012  linking the size of one’s penis  to their “race”. He found was that the many of the current stereotypes we hold are actually true! He found that men from Africa had the largest penis size of any of the other “races” and that the men from The Republic of  Congo measured in with an average of 7.1 inches (18cm). Asian men came bottom of the list  with an average of 4.1 inches in length (10.4cm). Men of European origin were somewhere between the two.

Commentators on this research have been highly critical of the way that Lynn gathered his data. Much of it was pulled from the internet and therefore has been largely dismissed.

So, what is the conclusion?

So, what is the conclusion? Well endowed guys just love to show off their penises? Men don’t even know how to measure their manhood? The “science” behind much of this research has their roots from a very colonial/imperialistic view of the male body. It is pretty much a lottery that determines the size of the penis that we are born with. The size of your feet, height or ethic origins really doesn’t play any role in the development of the male appendage. The most important thing is that we are happy with what nature has given us and that we put it to the best use.

There are way more things to be concerned about!

I did my PhD in psychiatry at King’s College London on perceptions of masculinity. Yep, this article hits it on the nail. Think less about size. If you want to think about ‘down there’, think about testicular and prostate cancers. Can we have a post about these please? What does everyday health have to do with these forms of cancer? It would be very interesting to know. Keep posting!
